Anne-Marie Smalldon

Artistic Director, Combination Dance

Anne-Marie trained at The Northern Ballet School and London Contemporary Dance School, she joined Combination Dance as the Artistic Director in 2001. Her work has since received a number of commissions and awards including a successful 2018/19 project for The Centenary of Suffrage supported by The National Archives & Victoria Business Improvement District: 100nehundred

Other projects have contributed to Richmond’s WW1 Centenary Commemoration, Big Dance 2008-2016 (including a special 2012 commission), Open Rehearsal & “Look Up” commissions for HighSpeed1, Richmond’s Royal Jubilee Celebrations, projects for English National Ballet & events at Hampton Court Palace. Through this, Combination Dance has been featured in the press, on European ITV, Channel 4 & BBC TV news & broadcast with Sky Arts.

Combination Dance’s vision is one where the people of London and beyond are positively engaging with dance as part of their lives, enjoying its physical, psychological, creative, social, cultural and specific health benefits as individuals and communities.

Combination Dance has a track record for making dance and science inspired projects since 2013 working alongside the current team as well as other organisations and venues including The Science Museum, Imperial Festival, The National Physical Laboratory, The Centre of the Cell, Manchester Science Festival and Cancer Research UK.

Combination Dance Company is a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee.

Kath Morton-Smith

Dance Manager

A creative programme manager and producer with a background in documentary film and digital production. Kath has worked with BBC, ITV and has had her work shown on Film Four. Since 2015 Kath has been a Creative Producer with Art Council Wales helping schools apply for and navigate the Lead Creative Schools Programme. Two of her schools had their projects exhibited at Tate Modern. Kath specialises in collaborative partnership working, participatory project management,  creative risk taking and applying for funding. Working with Anne-Marie, Kath has developed the Starcells Schools Programme and N-Rich Dance for Combination Dance.

Scott Palmer

Director of Carbon IT Services Ltd. | Photographer

Scott is a Director of Carbon IT Services Ltd., a technology and consultancy company which adopts a benevolent, human approach to delivering IT solutions.

Carbon IT Services Ltd. is Combination Dance’s technology partner and is responsible for delivering most of the technology requirements for the Star Cells project including this website. 

Scott also owns Scott David Photography, whose portfolio primarily focuses on performing arts, portrait and fine art photography. Scott is a graduate of The Photography Institute and has long had a passion for photography sparked from using his Grandfather’s cameras and darkroom at a young age.

Luke Toddfrey

Videographer | Photographer

Luke uses video, photography and motion graphics to create narrative-driven digital content for well-known brands.

Working through his production company, TODDCS, Luke has over fifteen years of experience bringing performance to audiences. He produces multi-camera live events, conducts interviews and creates project-focused content for a multitude of industries. His strategies have also been implemented by venues, marketing and PR companies to brand and theme events and create experiences.

Luke’s work has been broadcast on the BBC, MTV and featured in publications such as Time Out and The Times. He loves working with creative people and takes his camera everywhere he goes.

Mike Lees

Costume, Production, Set Designer and Stylist

Mike Lees is an award winning, London based Costume, Production, Set Designer and stylist working across Musicals, Straight Theatre, Ballet, Opera and Television.

With over a decade of experience on a vast and eclectic mix of projects, Mike has built up a successful reputation as a Designer with an outstanding passion and eye for detail. As well as designing, Mike can offer a combined wardrobe and make-up service, as well as being an accomplished scenic artist, stage manager and model maker.

Chloe Mead

Choreographer

Chloe Mead is a freelance dance artist based in London. She has worked with a number of companies and choreographers including The Royal Opera House, Richard Alston, Kate Flatt, Ceyda Tanc, Tim Casson and Katie Green. She particularly enjoys physical theatre or site specific dance, bringing dance into spaces you might not expect to see it. She believes art and dance should be for everyone to enjoy and have the opportunities to be involved.

Alongside her performance work she teaches children, teenagers and adults for English National Ballet, The Royal Opera House and Made by Katie Green. She also designs and makes costumes for performances. She’s absolutely thrilled to be involved in this project and hopes it makes an impact in learning about the amazing research being done.

Matt Walker

Choreographer

Matt Walker did his professional training at the Urdang academy and is now an international dancer, choreographer, creative director and teacher with his weekly Ombrascura Dance company class taking place at London’s Base Dance Studios. Matts combined performance and choreographic credits include The XFactor, The Brit Awards, Chris Brown, Cheryl, One Direction, Mariah Carey, DLush, Giggs, Conor Maynard, Joesph Reuben, Burberry, Paco Rabanne, Spotify, L’Oreal, ASDA, Sunkissed, Sky Sports, A League of Their Own, Britannia High, High School Musical, Cannes film festival, Wilderness festival UEFA, Rambert and many more. Matt is very passionate about training the next generation of dancers and currently teaches not just all over the world as a guest artist but at many of the uks top dance studios and colleges including Base Studios, Bird College, Stella Mann College, Italia Conti performing arts, The Urdang Academy, Guildford school of Acting, Hurtwood House, The Urban Dance School (UDS) & Ombrascura Dance Company

Tassos Karadimitris

PhD, MRCP, FRCPath

Graduated in Medicine at the Aristotelian University, Thessaloniki, Greece

Lead Scientist for this project

After general medical training in different UK Hospitals he trained in Haematology and in research at Hammersmith Hospital, London, Imperial College London, MSKCC, New York and Oxford, UK.

He currently holds the Langmuir Chair in Haematology at the Centre for Haematology, Imperial College London, is the Co-Director of the Centre for Haematology, Director of the Hugh and Josseline Langmuir Centre for Haematology, and Consultant Haematologist, Department of Haematology, Hammersmith Hospital, Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust.
